2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Amapola Creek Estate, Sonoma Valley
Amapola Creek 2008/Sonoma Valley 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Verdot-Gold Star "Aromas of cooked cherries, currant jam, peppery spice, and dark chocolate, over sweet vanilla and cedar. Round on the palate, with black plum, black cherry, and sweet, smoky oak. Long, satisfying finish. Delicious. Aged dry cheese.”

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley, Amapola Creek Estate
“91 Amapola Creek 2008 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley ($60) Dense and smooth with rich plum, blackberry, chocolate, and spice; lush and showing sweet oak, cinnamon and generous texture; layered, complex and quite lovely; long and well-balanced.”

Special Occasion Chardonnay
2010 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, Jos. Belli Vineyards
“Amapola Creek 2010 Chardonnay Russian River Valley Jos. Belli Vineyards ($45). Still a baby, and its structure is showing a bit at this point. But after a bit of breathing time, things come together, and the oak, lemony citrus, and stony mineral accents blend harmoniously with the pretty nectarine and Asian pear fruit. Silky finish picks up creamy vanilla, caramel and spice notes. Drink now and over the next 4-5 years.”

What to Drink Now: Thanksgiving Zin.......and More
2009 Zinfandel, Sonoma Valley, Monte Rosso Vineyard, Viñas Antiguas
"I do like the Zin from Amapola Creek, a completely organic, sustainably farmed vineyard and winery owned by famed winemaker Richard Arrowood, who has been making wine in Sonoma Valley for over 45 years. This Zinfandel, made from vines averaging 115 years old, is soft and supple without being overly jammy or fruit forward. Filled with a nice balance of blackberry, black cherry and pepper with light aromas of violets and wild flowers.”

Wine Reviews: Cali Cabernet Sauvignon
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley, Amapola Creek Estate
"The wine smells deliciously hedonistic — dark, ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, and dust — but everything is in check. The oak is present but not obtrusive. Soft, well-structured tannins, nicely structured, great balance. An excellent wine." (94 pts.)
