About Us

I am truly blessed, with all that’s needed to make great wine.

I have mountainside vines on ideal volcanic soils next to, and within, the legendary Monte Rosso Vineyard. I have our new winery, tiny but sophisticated, to capture the best that nature offers.

Most importantly, I have my wife and friends. Alis, Charlie Tolbert, Phil Coturri and I together bring 145 years of wine industry experience, mostly in Sonoma Valley, to Amapola Creek Vineyards & Winery.

Phil is one of the foremost viticulturists in California, a true pioneer in organic grape growing and a savvy advisor. Charlie is an esteemed colleague and trusted friend who first worked with me at Chateau St. Jean 33 years ago.

Alis is my beloved partner in life, my hardworking partner in Arrowood Vineyards & Winery, and now, once again, she joins me at Amapola Creek in our special venture.
